Harish Rao Highlights Congress Hypocrisy on Sita Rama Project

Sita Rama Project: A Testament to KCR’s Vision for Telangana. The Sita Rama Project: A Testament to KCR’s Vision for Telangana has emerged as a groundbreaking initiative that underscores the commitment of the Telangana government to its farmers and agricultural development. Former Minister and senior MLA T Harish Rao has been vocal about this project, highlighting its significance in transforming the region’s irrigation landscape.

A Shift in Political Stance

In recent discussions, Harish Rao criticized the Congress party for its previous opposition to the Sita Rama Lift Irrigation Project (SRLIP). Despite having filed court cases and questioned its feasibility, Congress leaders are now seen celebrating the project’s benefits. This shift in attitude illustrates a stark contrast between their earlier stance and the current reality of the project delivering water from the Godavari River.

Harish Rao pointed out that the Congress party failed to protect Telangana’s rightful share of Krishna waters, allowing Andhra Pradesh to divert significant amounts daily. “The only solution was to lift Godavari River water, and Chandrashekhar Rao saw this coming long ago,” he asserted. Thanks to KCR’s foresight, the project was 90% completed before his tenure ended, overcoming various hurdles from both the BJP-led Central government and the Congress party.

A Vision Realized

The Sita Rama Project is not merely an irrigation initiative; it represents a permanent solution to the water needs of several districts, including Khammam, Bhadradri-Kothagudem, Suryapet, and Mahabubabad. Harish Rao emphasized that it will irrigate approximately 6.8 lakh acres directly, impacting around 10 lakh acres indirectly. This accomplishment is particularly noteworthy given that the Congress party ruled the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh for 60 years without executing such a vision.

K Chandrashekhar Rao’s leadership has transformed the Sita Rama Project into a testament to his commitment to Telangana’s farmers. As Harish Rao stated, “Kaleshwaram and Sitarama will stand as proof of Chandrashekhar Rao’s commitment to Telangana’s farmers for decades to come.”

Looking Forward

As the Sita Rama Project continues to provide vital resources to the agricultural community, it serves as a reminder that development is a continuous journey. The BRS government remains focused on the long-term goal of enhancing the lives of the people of Telangana.
