Congress Cabinet Restructuring for SC, ST, BC Representation

HYDERABAD: The recent completion of the caste survey has prompted the Congress high command to focus on the Congress Cabinet Expansion for SC, ST, and BC Representation. This strategic move aims to ensure that the state Cabinet and the Legislature party reflect the diverse demographics of the community. The Congress party is committed to social justice and equitable representation for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Backward Classes (BC).

Strategic Cabinet Structure

To achieve this goal of inclusivity, the Congress leadership has decided to allocate specific berths in the upcoming Cabinet expansion. Plans are in place to include two leaders from the Reddy community, one representative from the BC category, one from the SC category, and one minority leader. This initiative not only seeks to uphold social justice but also aims to strengthen the party’s base among these communities.

As part of the Cabinet expansion, the party is looking to fill five of the six vacant posts. Initially, there was some hesitation regarding the appointment of two Reddy leaders; however, a commitment made to Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy will be honored, reflecting the party’s dedication to keeping its promises.

Shortlist of Potential Leaders

The shortlist for these crucial Cabinet positions includes several prominent figures. P Sudarshan Reddy (Reddy), Vakiti Srihari (Mudiraj), Gaddam Vivek (Mala), and Amer Ali Khan (minority) are among those being considered. Should the party choose to include additional BC representatives or fill all vacant slots, Aadi Srinivas (Munnuru Kapu) is likely to be considered as a potential candidate.

Furthermore, it is anticipated that MLA Balu Naik (ST) will be appointed as deputy speaker. There are also discussions around appointing an MLA from Rangareddy district as chief whip, showcasing the party’s effort to ensure representation from various regions.

MLC Nominations

In terms of MLC nominations, the Congress party is in a favorable position to secure four seats under the MLAs quota. The decision has been made to allocate one seat each to a Reddy, SC, and either an ST or BC candidate. Notably, one of these nominees is expected to be a woman, emphasizing the Congress’s commitment to gender equality within its ranks.
