Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao has slammed Congress leader Revanth Reddy for his Musi padayatra in Nalgonda, calling it a political stunt aimed at shifting attention from the issues surrounding the Musi River Rejuvenation project and the displaced families in Hyderabad. KTR challenged Revanth Reddy to visit the families whose homes are facing demolition due to the project, rather than organizing a march in a distant district.

“While the people directly affected by your project are right here in Hyderabad, you’re busy with a march in Nalgonda, far from the real crisis,” KTR remarked, accusing the Congress leader of avoiding the real issues and instead trying to politicize the situation for personal gain.

He criticized Revanth Reddy and the previous Congress-led government for neglecting the Musi River for decades, turning it into a drain while ignoring the suffering of local communities. KTR pointed out that, rather than offering solutions, Revanth Reddy was using the padayatra to deflect from his party’s long history of mismanagement.

“This padayatra is an attempt to cover up years of Congress negligence. If Revanth Reddy truly cared, he would address the concerns of the families whose homes are at risk,” he said.

KTR further accused the Congress leadership of focusing on the Musi project as a means to profit rather than solve the issues plaguing local communities. “You talk endlessly about the Musi project but do nothing to help the affected families. This is not leadership; it’s opportunism,” he stated.

Rama Rao also condemned the arrests of BRS leaders and workers ahead of Revanth Reddy’s padayatra, calling the police action an effort to suppress the opposition’s voice and avoid accountability for the government’s failures.

“By arresting our leaders, the Congress government is only showing their fear of being questioned on their failures. They have no answers, and that’s why they resort to arrests,” he said, demanding the immediate release of detained BRS leaders.

KTR concluded by urging the Congress government to focus on governance rather than political games. “If they cannot address the people’s problems, they should step aside and allow those who can to take charge,” he added.
