At least 18 people lost their lives and five others sustained injuries in the tragic Gujarat Firecracker Explosion that occurred early on Tuesday at a firecracker storage facility in Banaskantha district. The incident took place around 9:45 AM in an industrial area near Deesa, where a massive blast triggered a fire, collapsing the building’s structure. Details of the Incident

According to Superintendent of Police Akshayraj Makwana, most victims were workers from Madhya Pradesh, accompanied by their families. The majority of casualties resulted from the building’s slab falling after the explosion. The facility primarily served as a warehouse for storing firecrackers. Authorities have yet to find any evidence indicating that fireworks were produced on the site.

The five injured individuals are currently receiving treatment at local hospitals. Rescue operations are ongoing, with local firefighters from Deesa municipality battling the blaze and working to retrieve individuals trapped in the debris.

Government Response to the Gujarat Firecracker Explosion

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel expressed his condolences to the victims’ families and promised financial support. The state government plans to provide Rs 4 lakh to the families of those who perished and Rs 50,000 to those injured in the explosion. Patel assured that rescue and medical operations would continue, emphasizing that the victims’ families would receive all possible aid.

In his statement, Patel described the incident as “heart-breaking” and conveyed his deepest sympathies to the bereaved families. He has been in regular contact with local administration officials to ensure effective implementation of relief efforts.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav also extended his condolences. He assured the families of the workers from his state that the Madhya Pradesh government is closely coordinating with Gujarat officials. Yadav confirmed that all necessary support and assistance would be provided to the affected families.
