Devotees Flock to Prayagraj for Final Maha Kumbh Rituals

Maha Kumbh Security and Travel Preparations for Mahashivratri. As the Maha Kumbh approaches its final phase, the excitement among devotees intensifies. Many are making their way to Prayagraj to participate in the holy dip at Sangam, especially on February 26, Mahashivratri. This day is expected to draw a massive crowd, with an additional surge of visitors anticipated over the preceding weekend. In light of this, authorities are implementing extensive security and travel preparations to ensure a smooth experience for everyone.

Enhanced Security Measures

In response to the expected influx of visitors, security measures have been significantly strengthened at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Junction in Uttar Pradesh. Holding areas have been established outside the station to effectively manage the anticipated rush. This railway station serves as a vital gateway for travelers coming from Bihar, Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, and the northeastern states.

To maintain order, unauthorized entry into the station has been restricted. Security personnel are diligently checking tickets at all entry points to ensure that only authorized passengers access the premises.

North Central Railway CPRO Shashikant Tripathi emphasized the proactive approach taken by the Railways. He stated that preparations have been in place since the inception of the Maha Kumbh. “If congestion increases, we will implement a single-entry and exit system, allowing passengers to enter from one side and exit from another,” he explained.Maha Kumbh Security and Travel Preparations for Mahashivratri.

Crowd Management Strategies

To facilitate smooth travel during this busy time, colour-coded holding areas will be designated for passengers traveling in different directions. This strategy aims to streamline the flow of people and reduce confusion.

If necessary, additional passengers will be accommodated in the holding area at Khusro Bagh until their trains arrive. This approach has been successfully utilized during previous Amrit Snan days, ensuring that travelers remain comfortable while waiting.

Moreover, a collaborative effort involving the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police (GRP), local police, and the RPF’s commando unit “CORAS” has been mobilized to manage the crowd effectively. Railway officials, including DRM Rajesh Gupta and Senior DCM Sudhanshu Kumar, are actively monitoring the situation to guarantee seamless operations.

Surveillance and Safety Protocols

East Central Railway CPRO Saraswati Chandra confirmed that strict surveillance is in place at all key stations. Enhanced security arrangements include the deployment of heavy police forces and the use of CCTV monitoring to maintain order and safety.

As Mahashivratri approaches, the significance of the Maha Kumbh cannot be overstated. It marks the culmination of a once-in-a-12-year event, drawing millions from all corners of the country.
