Rythu Bharosa Scheme to Be Extended After Sankranti
Rythu Bharosa Scheme Extension
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced that the Rythu Bharosa scheme will continue after Sankranti. Furthermore, he confirmed that the Rs. 500 bonus for fine rice varieties will continue in the next season. His focus is on providing substantial support to farmers, particularly during the election period.
In addition, the Cabinet sub-committee has prepared detailed recommendations for the scheme’s implementation. Officials will discuss these proposals during the upcoming assembly session, where they will gather public feedback to finalize the plans.
Crop Loan Waiver and Adjustments
Revanth Reddy highlighted the Congress government’s achievement of waiving crop loans for 25.35 lakh farmers. These loans, secured between December 2018 and December 2023, totaled Rs. 21,000 crore. Even farmers without white ration cards benefited from this initiative. He also criticized the previous administration for failing to execute similar promises effectively.
Moreover, the reduction in crop loan estimates—from Rs. 31,000 crore to Rs. 20,616 crore—occurred because banks mistakenly included older long-term loans raised before 2018. However, the current government took steps to correct these issues.
Encouraging Fine Rice Cultivation
Revanth Reddy urged farmers to grow fine rice varieties like Telangana Sona, BPT, and HMT in the next season. These crops are known for their higher yields and popularity in Telangana. Consequently, the government guaranteed the procurement of all rice stocks with a Rs. 500 bonus per quintal.
Additionally, the government plans to distribute the rice through ration shops and SC, ST, and minority schools, rather than supplying it to FCI. This initiative aims to ensure better utilization of resources while supporting local farmers.
