Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to make a significant visit to Nagpur on Sunday, where he will honor the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) headquarters in the Reshimbagh area. During his visit, he will pay tributes to the founder, Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, and the second Sarsanghchalak, MS Golwalkar, at the Smruti Mandir. This marks PM Modi’s first visit to the RSS headquarters since he took office in 2014.
Significance of the Visit
The timing of PM Modi’s Nagpur visit coincides with the Sangh’s ‘Pratipada programme’, which celebrates the Hindu New Year. Notably, this is the first time a sitting Prime Minister has visited the RSS headquarters. This visit follows the conclusion of the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha meeting, the Sangh’s highest decision-making body.
Previously, Modi visited Reshimbagh on September 16, 2012, to pay tribute to former RSS chief K Sudarshan. His current visit holds great significance for both the RSS and the local community.
Paying Homage to B.R. Ambedkar
In addition to the RSS headquarters, PM Modi will visit Deekshabhoomi in Nagpur, where Dr. B.R. Ambedkar embraced Buddhism in 1956 alongside thousands of followers. This spot is iconic in Indian history and serves as a powerful symbol of social justice.
Launching New Initiatives
During his Nagpur visit, PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for the Madhav Netralaya Premium Centre. This new extension of the Madhav Netralaya Eye Institute and Research Centre, established in 2014, aims to enhance ophthalmic care in Nagpur. The facility will feature a 250-bedded hospital, 14 outpatient departments (OPDs), and 14 modular operation theatres, offering world-class eye care services to the community.
Advancements in Defense
Moreover, PM Modi is scheduled to visit Solar Defence and Aerospace Limited’s ammunition facility in Nagpur. Here, he will inaugurate a newly-built airstrip, measuring 1,250 metres long and 25 metres wide, designed for Unarmed Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). He will also oversee the opening of a live munition and warhead testing facility, which will be crucial for testing advanced munitions.
In conclusion, PM Modi’s Nagpur visit is poised to be a momentous occasion, highlighting significant cultural, social, and technological advancements. For more updates, visit The Hans Bharat.
