Empowering Women Through Naari Shakti Initiative.New Delhi: On International Women’s Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a special initiative titled “Empowering Women Through Naari Shakti Initiative”. As part of this initiative, he will hand over his social media accounts to a selection of inspiring women from across the country. This initiative aims to provide these remarkable women with a platform to share their stories, achievements, and contributions, thereby amplifying their voices and experiences.

Celebrating Naari Shakti

International Women’s Day serves as an excellent occasion to honor India’s Naari Shakti, or women’s power. PM Modi highlighted the essential role women have played in shaping the nation’s past, present, and future. He quoted a shloka from the Devi Mahatmya, which emphasizes that all forms of knowledge manifest from the Goddess, symbolizing how women embody the spirit of empowerment in society.

The Prime Minister pointed out that respect for daughters has always been a priority in Indian culture. He noted that women’s power has been instrumental not only in the Independence movement but also in the drafting of the Constitution. This historical perspective underlines the significant contributions of women throughout India’s journey.

A Historical Perspective

In a poignant audio clip, PM Modi shared the words of Hansa Mehta, a pivotal figure in the freedom struggle and constitutional drafting. She remarked, “It is in the fitness of things that this first flag, that is flying over this August House, should be a gift from the women of India.” Her statement reflects the sacrifices made by women for the nation’s freedom and their enduring spirit.

PM Modi emphasized that Hansa Mehta’s insights resonate with the current landscape, where women’s contributions are profound and inspiring across various fields. The Prime Minister’s acknowledgment of past sacrifices highlights the ongoing journey towards gender equality and empowerment.
