Koderma (Jharkhand): The recent Kalash Yatra Attack Koderma has shocked the local community. Women participating in a Kalash Yatra in Chhatarbar village were attacked with stones on Tuesday. These women, carrying urns on their heads as part of a religious ritual, were seeking alms when unidentified individuals pelted stones from rooftops, damaging several urns during this sacred event.
Community Response
Upon learning about the attack, hundreds of villagers gathered on the scene to protest. This outpouring of community support escalated tensions in the area. The situation became confrontational as people from opposing sides arrived, leading to a chaotic scene. Authorities quickly intervened, deploying a large police force to restore law and order in Chhatarbar and its surrounding areas.
The Significance of the Kalash Yatra
The Kalash Yatra is a vital part of preparations for a community-organized Yagya ritual scheduled from April 9 to April 17 in Chechai village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Koderma police station. Approximately 60 women had set out to seek alms as part of this ritual, singing devotional songs when the attack occurred.
Escalation of Tensions
Following the attack, a large number of people from Chechai village arrived armed with sticks and rods to protest. This led to a confrontation with individuals from the opposing side, which intensified the already volatile situation.
In response to this unrest, senior police officials, including SDPO Anil Kumar Singh, arrived from Koderma district headquarters with reinforcements. The police managed to safely evacuate the women and disperse the crowd near the Chhatarbar village square.
Demands for Justice
Residents of Chechai village have demanded immediate identification and action against those responsible for the Kalash Yatra Attack Koderma. They view this assault as an attack on their religious faith and traditions. To prevent further escalation, authorities have deployed drones for surveillance in the area.
SDPO Singh has assured the community that the police will take strict action against anyone attempting to disrupt communal harmony. He emphasized that the police are actively investigating and identifying the perpetrators involved in this disturbing incident.
